Lisa Chimera is running for the County Legislature, but the well-heeled public servent’s salary is quickly causing a political stir in the 3rd legislative district, which encompasses parts of North Buffalo and Tonawanda.
Chimera works for the Kenmore-Tonawanda school district, salaried at $97,174 per annum in 2018, while her husband earns another $106,208. With another $19,452 salary from her part-time position on the Town Board, Chimera and her husband, Matthew, earn $222,836 on local taxpayers.
If she is elected to the Erie County Legislature, the couple will earn another salary — at $42,588 for the part-time position.
Her critics cast her as “a triple-dipper going for a fourth scoop.” Some question whether one person is able to commit to such a substantial full time and part-time positions simultaneously. They worry that her students will be negatively impacted.
The Democratic Party primary is scheduled for June 25th.
Lisa’s brother-in-law, Seri, earns $86,996 from the Kenmore-Tonawanda schools and is promoting Matthew Chimera’s bid for school board.
